SALLT SCHOLARS
SALLT Scholars is created for college-aged students who are passionate about city transformation and features an abbreviated version of our class curriculum.
We explore what it means to be a salt and light leader in your city. We believe that leaders, awakened to the fact that we serve a God who has not changed, are given gifts and talents by God to use for his glory and the good of the people. A people called to love God and love one another can transform a city. You are part of the narrative of your city!
On our journey together, we will seek to help you answer four very important life questions:
Who is God?
Who does God say you are?
What is God’s purpose for your life?
How does that purpose impact your relationships, family, and city?
We do this by exploring these 10 sessions:
The Why of SALLT
God Has Not Changed
The Clapham Circle
Orphan Heart
Cultivating Intimacy With God
Hearing God's Voice
Your Father's Kingdom
Your Father's Values Part 1
Your Father's Values Part 2
Maximizing Your Kingdom Influence and Impact
SALLT Scholars is currently offered at:

THE SALLT SCHOLARS STORY
As Dr. Houghton graduated from SALLT, it occurred to him that although it was helpful for leaders like him to come on board for the purpose of being change agents in our culture, it was equally important to engage young leaders; to train them now as they prepare to enter their professions.
The SALLT leadership team agreed, and SALLT Scholars launched at OBU in 2014. Since that time eighty-nine students, representing 10 cohorts, have completed the OBU SALLT Scholars program. Graduates of the program have entered many of the cultural mountains of influence (e.g. banking, K12 educators, pastors, government, medical school, marriage and family counseling, etc.). Participants have overwhelming found the experience to be significant.
Perhaps these comment from our recent graduates sums it up well:
“I am somewhat at a loss for words. This program is invaluable, and I want to thank you for bringing it to OBU and inspiring it elsewhere. It is, when filled with ambitious students like us, a powerful force. And I pray its influence is only just beginning. May God bless SALLT.” – Spencer
“I learned that leadership is a combination of hard work and service that can only be done if you’re doing it unto the glory of the Lord and in service to others. The Scholars program helped me to expand my circle of influence in my community. I would highly recommend this Scholars program to anyone who is interested in growing their leadership abilities and getting more plugged into their community.” - Beth
